This is a newly created position which is mandated to strengthen the image of Islamic Relief in Bangladesh. The incumbent is expected to cultivate and build a relationship with Government, UN, INGOs, Pvt. Sector and Media. S/he is expected to help the IRB senior management to build strategic partnerships with stakeholders to advance IR missions and objectives in Bangladesh.
Job Description:
Developing and delivering the external relations component of Islamic Relief Bangladesh (IRB)s External Relations (ER) strategy, to protect and enhance IRBs profile and reputation at in the country, Regional & globally (30%):
Ensure that the External Relation and Communication strategy incorporates specific objectives to building the profile of IRB and through well designed and tailored activities such as attendance at sector events, regular stakeholder meetings, attendance in government programmes, hosting IRB events (e.g. briefings to stakeholders or field trips), and related external communications/PR/ lobbying
Develop and implement a communications strategy for key external stakeholders and identify avenues for engagement.
Provide external relations advice and support to the Country Director, Head of Program & Other Senior Staff.
Develop and maintain strong and productive relationships with relevant Government Department, UN, International organizations and other stakeholders
Supporting and coordinating the implementation and on-going development of IRBs stakeholder engagement strategy and associated policy (30%):
Support and coordinate the implementation and on-going development of IRBs new stakeholder engagement strategy and associated policy, working with CD and other IRB colleagues
Lead in preparing target-oriented messages for different stakeholder
Develop and coordinate the development of relevant content and messaging to support stakeholder engagement.
Ensure that stakeholders are prioritized and specific strategy is developed to engage them in IRB work
Ensure that the stakeholder engagement policy is reviewed annually and updated as necessary
Supporting IRB external communications, managing media relations, and building relationships with national and international journalists, national government, INGOs, media groups and UN(30%):
Provide strategic leadership and oversight of all aspects of IRB communications activity, comprising various project communications activity & other external communication work.
Help in identifying an external branding/design organization to overhaul the IRBs visual identity.
Build and cultivate a strong relationship with government departments and relevant ministries and ensure that IRB is strategically engaged at relevant forums.
Advice Country Leadership team in IR branding issue within the country and develop specific plan to strengthen IR brand in Bangladesh
Provide leadership and guidance to the team member in implementing IRB communication strategy.
Drafting, editing, translating and proofreading of correspondence/publications (10%)
Ensure that official correspondence is in conformity with the Organizations established policy and practices and with the appropriate mandate
Provide editorial guidance to the team involved in producing communication materials/publications/reports.
