JOB SUMMARY: Child Welfare monitor will be responsible for the day to day activities of the Child welfare Programme by providing support to orphan operations, facilitating good practice and ensuring legal compliance to applicable implementation process of child welfare interventions in Garowe-Nugal region of puntland state of Somalia.
SCOPE OF ROLE:
Child Welfare Monitor will be fully engaged in ensuring a safe and productive living environment for Orphans and other children under IRW sponsorship scheme in Garowe District and will assess and report general living standard of 800 IRS sponsored orphan children and also provides advises, awareness and orientation on child rights to adolescents and families. Some of the overall scope of CW – monitor duties are but not limited to as follows;
· Assist in generating data for Quarterly case studies after every quarterly disbursement.
· Assist in Maintaining sponsored Orphans record in both hard and soft copies.
· Facilitate process of registering new orphans fitting IR criteria as and when requested.
· Facilitate process of screening registered orphan children
· Monitor progress of Mothers Self Help Groups.
· Assist in opening accounts for sponsored orphans
· Keep track of orphans who have failed to attend school and factors hindering their progress.
· Process beneficiary payment ID cards
· Assist in gathering of annual progress report of individual orphans.
· Attend and at times represent the child welfare sector in the monthly child protection working group meetings
KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:
· Visit orphan children at their families for routine monitoring of their general progress.
· Prepare photos for the baseline data for progress reports and other reports.
· Updates bio data on line continuously.
· Upload annual progress report on line.
· Compiling Annual progress report data from field and collating the same.
· Assist Undertake seasonal and other food distributions for orphans.
· Inform guardians/mothers arrival of their entitlements.
· Assist to pass on gift/letter from sponsors to orphans vice versa.
· Assist process for opening orphan’s individual accounts.
SKILLS AND BEHAVIOURS:
· Demonstrated capacities to establish and maintain strong, collaborative working relationships with government officials, local organizations, communities and other stakeholders at field level.
· Ability in writing well designed reports and case studies.
· Proficiency in computer applications (MS Word, Excel, Power point).
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Batchelor Degree of Social Work, Psychology, Development Studies, Education, and Economics.
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
Experience:
· Extensive experience in working for NGO or INGOs on Development fields as a Child Welfare/Protection, Social worker with a max one year of relevant experience.
