Islamic Relief Worldwide is looking to recruit an Editorial Co-ordinator, based in Birmingham, who will be responsible for primarily overseeing the creation, shaping and development of compelling multiplatform editorial content to serve the needs of the Family (includes IRW, its partners and regional offices) and continuously tell the story of the organisation’s great work around the globe in inspiring ways. S/he will deliver the editorial aspect of IRW marketing strategy around the globe, with a focus on fundraising and programming (including but not limited to DRR, ISD, emergencies) and advocacy (including but not limited to Post-2015, Gender Based Violence and other advocacy activity). S/he will provide leadership for the highest possible quality and consistency of written material for the IR brand, story meeting rigorous international, sector-relevant and ethical standards.
The successful candidate will have a degree or equivalent in English or media/journalism. In addition, the candidate will have experience of envisioning, managing and producing editorial content in a corporation or an INGO, including experience of developing editorial plans, within multiple geographies. The successful candidate will have experience of producing external publications and managing production process, from initial concept to final product, including working closely with designers and printers. The candidate will have a sound understanding of development and humanitarian work at an international-level; knowledge of the global humanitarian and development arena and sensitive to the complexities in working with wide and diverse INGOs. The candidate will have exceptional communication skills in writing, editing and proof-reading with an excellent command of English and a strong eye for detail.
