MEAL Assistant

Under the direct supervision of the Senior MEAL Officer, the MEAL Assistant will be responsible for to assist implementing and coordination of the all monitoring activities and aspects, this include, to monitor and collect information and data on aspects of IRW projects and related activities from field visits and contacts with related stakeholders involved in the various in Turkey and other locations if required, and report findings to the Senior MEAL Officer. MEAL Assistant will also work closely with programme team and partners as well as other team members. MEAL Assistant will be based in Istanbul Office in Turkey, with frequent travel to the project’s sites in other sub offices and locations.**

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist the Senior MEAL Officer in planning field activities and collect all the required information pertaining to IRW interventions from using monitoring visits and the other tools.

• To check, collect data on satisfaction and feedback from the people we serve and various stakeholders.

• To use participatory methods and approaches for monitoring and discussing with beneficiaries and community member and other related stakeholders.

• Adjust specific activities in the response if the monitoring data indicate that the support provided is not meeting quality standards or is not as effective as it could be in responding to priority community needs.

• Monitor activities and output

• To communicate any significant changes in the project activities mainly to the line manager, and when required other related team members

• Assist the Senior MEAL Officer to ensuring functionality of beneficiary Accountability and Complaint Mechanism.

• To participate staff meetings and to give suggestions on setting field questionnaires.

• To ensure data collected from the field is immediately processed and passed on to the Senior MEAL Officer before the following field trip.

• To participate all core team activities in needs assessments, surveys, and other assessments in collaboration with IRW relevant local partners and NGOs.

• Assist Senior MEAL Officer to prepare regular tour and other periodic reports.

• To work in co-ordination with the team and other concerned parties including IRW projects’ teams to maintain regular exchange of information.

• To carry any other assigned tasks compatible with the job description when requested by Senior MEAL Officer.

• Represent the MEAL team in coordination meetings and any other meetings as requested

• Providing regular feedback to the Senior MEAL Officer.

• Assist in the documentation of the project meetings/workshops.

• Support in collection of project stories, reports, lessons learned, good practices, photos and case studies

• Implementing the activities related to archiving and record management

Personal Specificaiton

• Strong ability to work with team and work independently and meet tight deadlines

• Good oral and written reporting skills

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, teamwork, flexibility, innovation.

• Possess cultural awareness and sensitivity and demonstrate sound work ethics

• Being respectful and flexible

• Maintain strict confidentiality in performing the duties and tasks

Requirements

• Turkish as mother tongue

• English reading and writing skills are a must, Arabic is desirable

• University degree

• Minimum 1 year relevant experience of Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning

• Work experience at least in one of these sectors food security, livelihood, health & nutrition, WASH, education and good understanding of food security and livelihood, WASH, Education, NFIs/Shelters concepts

• Demonstrated experience in implementing assessment tools (e.g. questionnaire, focus group discussions)

• Proficiency computer skills, internet and search tools

• Proficiency in MS office and the ability to use software necessary for information management and reporting, competency in the use of statistical packages like Excel, and Kobo collect

• Must have cultural sensitivity and the ability to work in a multi-cultural team
