Islamic Relief Worldwide is looking to recruit a Junior Legal Counsel based at our Head Office in Birmingham. The Junior Legal Counsel will support the General Counsel on the development and management of legal, regulatory and compliance processes in relation to its work in the UK and also in various jurisdictions worldwide. S/he will provide high quality professional support on a range of legal, regulatory and compliance issues. This will include issues arising under UK law, local law in countries where the organisation operates, and internationally.
The Junior Legal Counsel will have sound drafting skills, advising and negotiation of commercial contracts including but not limited to goods and services agreements, funding agreements, partnerships, joint ventures and other collaborative agreements licenses, leases, NDAs. The post holder will support and assist with the development and implementation of compliance policies and procedures reflecting legal compliance requirements.
The successful candidate must be a Solicitor qualified in England and Wales. The post holder will have a firm knowledge and experience of one or more of UK company law, charities law, anti-fraud, terrorism and bribery laws. The post holder will have previous experience of working in a legal and compliance environment. Experience of an in house role is preferable as well as ability to speak a second key international language. The job holder will have close ties to the Birmingham area. The job holder will have the ability to communicate technical and complex information and ideas to different audiences (both up and down the organisation).
