Islamic Relief Worldwide are currently recruiting for the position of a Global Disaster Preparedness and Capacity Building Specialist. The post holder will lead on identifying priorities for disaster preparedness, mitigation, and disaster risk reduction through assessments of prevailing/ frequent disaster risks, vulnerabilities and capacities. S/he will participate and/or represent IRW in appropriate forums and discussions on disaster preparedness, DRR and capacity building related issues.
The successful candidate must have or be:
- Knowledge and experience of working with disaster risk reduction, preparedness and development issues and a good understanding of relevant humanitarian and policy issues
- Good knowledge of cross cutting issues such as protection & inclusion (Gender, Age & Disability) and climate change
- Ability to plan and conduct research during humanitarian operations
- Excellent time management skills
- Excellent writing and speaking skills in English
