Background

Islamic Relief is an international NGO, established in 1984 in the UK, Seeking to promote sustainable Economic and social development by working with local communities through relief and development activities.

Islamic Relief Somalia (IRS) has been operating in Somalia since 2006 and has responded to conflict and drought affected people through provision of life saving assistance. Through our projects, IR has continuously been providing safe drinking water, improving hygienic sanitation facilities, increasing hygiene awareness, particularly to ones living in IDP camps; empowering the urban poor and distressed working children, engaging in conflict management and mitigation and strengthening of community cohesiveness and co-existence.

Islamic relief is currently implementing voucher for training project funded by WFP in Balcad district middle Shebelle.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Cooking Training

  2. Set up workstations with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment

  3. Show them how to Prepare ingredients to use in cooking (chopping and peeling vegetables, cutting meat etc.)

  4. Cook different foods in various utensils or grillers using variety method.

  5. Check the food cook by the beneficiaries and supervise how to stir or turn during cooking.

  6. Ensure great presentation by dressing dishes before they are served

  7. Keep a sanitized and orderly environment in the kitchen during training.

  8. Ensure all food and other items are stored properly and saved from contamination

  9. Check the quality and quantity of ingredients during training to ensure that shortage of ingredient do not occurre.

  10. Monitor stock and place orders when there are shortages.

  11. Manage kitchen staff or trainee and delegate tasks related to meal prep, cooking and delivering food to diners in a timely fashion.

  12. All equipment materials will be provided by the trainer

2. Electrician Training

· Show the beneficiary on how to install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools.

· Train the beneficiary how to Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components.

· Show the trainees on Inspecting electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair of electric materials.

· Show how to Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.

· Demonstration of trainees on how to test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and appropriate apparatus, to ensure compatibility and safety of system.

· Educate the trainees on how to Maintain current electrician's license or identification card to meet governmental regulations.

· Show them how to Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures.

· Prepare specifications for purchase of materials and equipment

· All equipment materials will be provided by the trainer

3. Carpentry Training

· Trained them on how to carry out planning and survey to identify different technique**s** in construction

· Interact with beneficiary to obtain information as regards their specification and preferences for their activities.

· Show them different kinds of furniture designs and styles.

· Show them on how to estimate materials required for the construction of wooden fixture

· Trained them on how to Select suitable wood type, as well as other materials needed for the training.

· Guide them on how to create woodworks used in the crafting of fine furniture units during training.

· Show the beneficiary how to Repair or replace damaged wood parts in structures such as beds, cabinets, and desks.

· Take measurements to establish furniture dimensions during the design or construction of wooden structures

· show the trainers how to Cut and shape wood materials to obtain components for a furniture unit

· Assemble and join wood components with the aid of nails, glue, and hammer to form a complete structure

· Bore holes on wood materials/structures to create lodge space for screws and bolts

· Install wood add-ons such as hinges, handles, and locks onto finished products

· Guide and supervise the activities of junior or trainee furniture carpenters

· Teaching (including face-to-face delivery, demonstration of practical skills)

· All equipment materials will be provided by the trainer

Minimum Qualifications, Skills and Experience

· At least two years of experience on Carpentry, electricity and Cooking.

· Skills on report writing

· Training facility and equipment’s

· Qualified trainers for the training.

Terms and conditions

  1. The consultant shall be responsible develop the reports and will be responsible for all his/her cost of conducting training after signing agreement with Islamic Relief.
  2. Logistics: The consultant’s will make his own arrangement to come to the training center, office and other field work.
  3. Tax and insurance: The consultants/firm shall be responsible for their income tax and/or insurance during the assignment and Islamic relief will NOT take any liabilities
  4. Payment will be made through bank account; therefore the consultant has to provide a bank account. While this will be done 50% upon start of the work (requesting advance payments and 50% completion of the assigned task followed by the submission of the report.
  5. Code of conduct: Because Islamic Relief’s work is based on deeply held on Islamic values and principles, it is essential that our commitment to community and humanitarian principles is supported and demonstrated by all members of staff. Islamic Relief's Code of Conduct sets out the standards which all staff members must adhere to. The consultant will be expected to adhere to the COC.
  6. Additional terms and conditions of service shall be spelt out in the contract while the consultant will be guided by any existing policy of the organization {islamic relief worldwide- Somalia program)

A.Technical Proposal includes

· Experience of carrying out the similar type of task

· Description of methodologies

· Profile/CV.

· Tentative Work plan.

B. Financial Proposal includes

· Budget Breakdown
