Islamic Relief Worldwide (IRW) is currently recruiting for the position of a Country Director based in Tunisia, who will be responsible for providing direction to ensure the effectiveness and positive impact of the programmes implemented by the CO and sub-office(s). This would include the post holder ensuring effective and continuous monitoring of the appropriateness, effectiveness, impact and direction of programmes implemented by the CO and sub-office(s) using appropriate IRW and other international tools. The role will also provide overall strategic planning leadership and technical backing for CO programmes in line with IRW’s strategic parameters. In pursuit of our mission, s/he will identify potential donors and institutional funding opportunities and secure funding sources in-country for country office and sub-office(s). The successful candidate, to consolidate the above-mentioned, will ensure that a human resource strategy and implementation plan is developed, monitored and reviewed as an integral part of the strategic planning process.
It is essential that the candidate has a work experience working as a Head of Mission, Country Director or a senior management role with an International NGO with proven track record of working with INGOs in developing countries in rehabilitation; development or emergency contexts. The candidate must have experience of managing and mentoring local and international staff and good interpersonal skills. This would include the ability to listen, sensitivity to others views and perspectives and conflict resolution. Furthermore, the post holder should have problem solving skills and be culturally sensitive. A working knowledge of a second language would be an added value.
