Islamic Relief Worldwide (IRW) is currently recruiting for the position of a Head of Programmes – Chad, who will be responsible for providing strategic direction to the programme, to ensure it works towards reducing poverty in a sustainable manner and responds to emergencies effectively.
The role will take a lead role in the annual strategic planning process, and make key decisions in relation to the programme implementation, and offer solutions to problems that arise during the implementation of programmes. This would include the post-holder assisting the programme team to develop, finalise and closely monitor the programme budget. The role will also actively participate in the Country Management Team (COMT). Part of this responsibility would include facilitating team building across the Programme, Islamic Relief Chad and the wider organisation. In addition, the candidate will build relationships with donors and other INGOs in Chad.
It is essential that the candidate has a Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in management, social science, international development, public administration, or a related field. This is required to be coupled with experience of working with various International NGOs in developing countries and an in depth understanding of national and international development issues in particular in relation to community development. The candidate must have good interpersonal skills including the ability to listen, sensitivity to other peoples’ views and perspectives, and conflict resolution. The candidate must also have excellent written and spoken English and French- obligatory, and be willing to travel to remote locations and in difficult terrains.
