Are you willing to tackle such injustices through ensuring the roll out and implementation of Islamic Relief’s Gender Justice Policy (GJ)?
In this exciting position you’ll be responsible for providing strategic direction to Islamic Relief’s work on gender justice. You will contribute to defining the long term vision and organisational objectives for Islamic Relief’s Gender Justice programming. The senior gender advisor will lead on not only the roll out of the GJ policy but ensure knowledge generation in relation to its implementation. The job entails leading on the development of research, programme learning and communications products in relation to GJ. You will also support our advocacy and policy approaches and develop and influence thought in the sector. The role will ensure that we continue strengthening IRW gender approaches particularly in the context of core support we have received from DFID and SIDA.
The ideal candidate should have proven experience and understanding of the role and importance of addressing gender justice in the development and humanitarian field. The successful candidate will have experience in training development and staff capacity building. They will have familiarity and understanding of the role of gender and GJ in the Muslim community setting and faith based agencies. The individual will be expected to develop and maintain a high level of technical knowledge in line with industry thought. You’ll have strong analytical skills and be able to think strategically, be flexible and a good communicator. The candidate will have excellent spoken and written English Language; other language skills particularly French and Arabic are desirable.
