JOB SUMMARY
SCOPE
The engineer will assist the program officer in the management of the WASH, construction, and maintenance activities, oversee the construction and rehabilitation of WASH and shelter clusters, also design and build structures, take implement them during construction, and work on-site.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Planning, organizing, directing, controlling, and evaluating construction projects from start to finish according to schedule, specifications, and budget
- Field visits to work sites, and following up and controlling the team and project implementation activities.
- Ensure all the received materials are according to the requested specification and quantities to prepare the work plan and time schedules for implementing the project activities.
- To coordinate with local councils and international partners (NGOs and other official agencies working with IR inside Syria)
- Coordinates & implements day-to-day activities with stakeholders in the field.
- Assists with monitoring the activities implemented by partners in the field.
- Communicates & reports on security or regulations when needed.
- tracking the Program progress through the monthly work plans,
- Preparing progress, weekly and monthly reports for the Program progress
- To keep a record of all project documents.
- Prepare the BOQs and condition books of construction and rehabilitation projects.
- To carry out other responsibilities and duties as requested by the line manager.
PERSONAL SPECIFICATION
The post holder must show a good understanding and sympathy with the Islamic values and principles as well as commitment to Islamic Relief Worldwide’s vision and mission.
Knowledge, Experience, and Qualifications
- University degree in Civil engineering
- Minimum 2 years’ experience with an international NGO.
- at least 5 Years’ experience in construction management processes, means, and methods
- Have a good Experience in the AUTOCAD program
- experience in building products, construction details, and relevant rules, regulations, and quality standards
- Understanding all facets of the construction process
- Strong communication, interpersonal & technical skills.
- Proven ability to work independently and as a team member.
- Good report writing skills.
- Able to work effectively under, & adapt to, difficult conditions.
Language
- Good in both Languages English & Arabic.
IT skills
- Very Good computer skills.
- Proficiency in the internet and search tools.
- Proficiency in MS office and the ability to use the software necessary for project management and reporting. (Excel and word are a must)
- Proficiency in using the construction and designing software needed for the work.
