IRW is currently recruiting for the position of 'Director of International Programmes’ to join its dynamic team.

JOB PURPOSE - Shaping a stronger Islamic Relief for people living in extreme poverty

Organisationally

  1. To provide strategic organisational leadership, inspiration and guidance to ensure that the organisational objectives are achieved.

  2. To lead and strengthen IR's relations with the wider humanitarian and development community to consolidate and develop the visibility and image of the organization.

  3. Develop partnerships with bilateral and multilateral donors globally with the aim at increasing programme funding portfolio of the organisation.

Divisionally

  1. To lead on the development, implementation and regular review of the division's strategy, work plans, and systems to achieve the agreed divisional objectives and quality delivery of programmes and impact

  2. To lead, manage, and develop the divisional staff to ensure that the workforce can fully achieve their agreed targets.

  3. To manage the division’s budget to ensure best use of financial resources and assets towards the achievement of the organisation’s strategic priorities.

The successful candidate must have or be:

· A well-established understanding of development and humanitarian work internationally & regionally, with a proven track record in initiating and maintaining successful global and local partnerships and relationships

  • Experience of developing and establishing strategies and work plans which help to deliver the wider organisational objectives
  • Proven ability to give direction to UK and international staff at senior levels through delegation of authority and tasks
  • Strong financial and resource management which enables strategic goals to be achieved within budgetary constraints
  • Demonstrated skills in networking which lead to positive relationships with external bodies
  • Ability to guide staff development towards achieving the five values of Islamic Relief Worldwide and organisational strategy
  • A strong understanding of how to build, guide and motivate teams that have a clear innovative direction as well as working collaboratively as part of a high performing senior team
  • Leading a team while managing organisational change
  • Sound communication skills which delivers complex information persuasively and with clarity in a wide range situations
  • Proven ability to report on recommendations which have been draw from sound analysis of available data
