IRW is currently recruiting for the position of ‘Director of Finance and Corporate Services' to join its dynamic Finance Division. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer the Director of Finance and Corporate Services is responsible for leading the Finance and Corporate Services Division and actively responsible for the development and implementation of robust financial and corporate service strategies, policies, procedures and systems to ensure organisational and operational effectiveness and efficiency. Provide strategic financial leadership to support the achievement of the organisation’s strategic priorities. Managing all aspects of the Finance function within the organisation, together with management of the ICT and the Facilities management. Lead and coordinate the development, planning, control, and reporting of financials assets, to enable IRW to be effective and efficient, to manage risks, and to be properly accountable to community, donors and regulators.

The successful candidate must have or be:

· Considerable experience of leading financial planning and management in a large, complex, non-profit organisation, including developing strategy and providing financial advice and reporting to Board, and managing external auditors

  • Demonstrable analytical, problem solving and conceptual skills to support effective strategic thinking
  • A good understanding of the principles and standards of UK and international financial reporting for non-profit organisations, and the ability to translate those into effective policies and processes to support the delivery of Islamic Relief’s mission

· A good practical understanding of the principles and practice of effective information systems planning and management, and or relevant data protection law

  • Strong customer service orientation, with a track record of successful initiatives to strengthen the responsiveness of support services to the changing needs of internal customers

· Strong diplomatic and negotiating skills, with experience of guiding and influencing Directors in other divisions to make better use of financial resources, and to negotiate best allocation of financial resources to achieve priority goals

  • Commitment to effective networking across the IR Family and the wider sector, with a track record of effective leadership in external networks
  • Graduate with minimum 2.1 class or equivalent supported by membership of a relevant accounting/management professional body

DESIRABLE:

· Experience of planning and managing ICT, office, and/or property management services

· Experience of developing effective policies and processes for financial planning and management in a network of country offices around the world, and of the practical challenges and limitations of implementing those policies in unstable and emergency contexts

· A good understanding of current issues in INGO accountability and reporting
