We are currently recruiting for the position of ‘Monitoring Evaluation Accountability & Learning (MEAL) Coordinator’ to join its dynamic International Programmes Division. Reporting to the Programme Impact & Learning Manager (PILM) the MEAL Co-ordinator will play a leading role in the delivery of some Programme Impact & Learning Team objectives, whilst co-ordinating and supporting in the delivery of others. The role will contribute towards delivering on Islamic Relief Worldwide’s strategic approach to programme delivery; including supporting in commissioning and conducting evaluations, rolling out our MEAL Framework, and in ensuring that the capacities of global MEAL staff are built and maintained. This role will also support in the development, promotion and use of technology within MEAL processes, particularly in relation to data collection and data analysis, including in supporting the roll out of any MEAL technology systems or tools that may be adopted. The role will also be responsible for ensuring the smooth running of a strategic grant that supports IRW Programme Quality.

The successful candidate must have or be:

  • At least a 2.1 at undergraduate level, or master’s degree, in a related subject such as social sciences or international development, or a recognised relevant professional qualification in monitoring & evaluation, or qualified through experience

· Proven analytical ability, both qualitative and quantitative, including ability to process and analyse large amounts of data and information and to present such data in creative and engaging ways.

· Good knowledge of current MEAL thinking.

· Broad understanding of international development and humanitarian programming approaches and willingness to develop deeper understanding of various sectors.

· An ability to work on own initiative, as part of teams of people of diverse backgrounds, and to have a flexible attitude to work.

· Proven ability to gather, analyse and evaluate facts and to prepare and present concise both oral and well-written reports.

· Respecting confidentiality and ability to present challenging findings in a factual yet sensitive manner.

· Excellent communication skills in spoken and written English.
