The Programme Coordinator under the supervision of Head of Programme will be working in Istanbul to provide effective and efficient support in coordination, designing the projects and the implementation of Health and Nutrition Projects/Programs in Syria and Turkey.
SCOPE
The Programme Coordinator reports to the Head of Programme and is responsible for coordination with clusters, donors, partners and other stakeholders to design and implement the projects (CN and Proposals) for Syria and Turkey.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Develop new projects based on the needs identified by the team and in coordination with the relevant clusters.
- Developing CNs and proposals as per the donor guidelines for securing funds.
- Finalising project reports along with field team as per the donor guidelines.
- Providing technical support to the health team inside Syria to achieve the set projects targets.
- Supporting procurement team in finalisation of project items including suppliers’ premises visits, sample checking, pre shipment inspections etc for effective and smooth implementation of projects.
- Visit and provide technical support to the team inside Syria if advised by the line manager.
- Attending all the donor, partners and other meetings for better relationships, information sharing and to look for new funding possibilities.
- Coordination and building relationships with UN agencies (UNICEF, WFP, UNHCR, WHO, UNFPA, UNOCHA, FAO etc) ECHO, EC, DFID, USAID, INGOS, government departments etc for securing funds for Syria and Turkey.
- To attend all the relevant cluster and working group meetings (health cluster, dialysis task force, Nutrition cluster, GBV working group etc) for effective management of health and nutrition programmes.
- Representing organization in other relevant forums or advised by the line manager or head of mission.
- Coordination with local partners as per the guidance.
- To conduct the related needs assessment monitoring and evaluation for the implemented project or any other project if required.
- Facilitating partners/donors and other stakeholders visits to project sites in Turkey and if possible inside Syria.
- To prepare work plan and time schedules for implementing the project activities in Syria and Turkey.
- To carry out other responsibilities and duties as requested by the line manager.
PERSONAL SPECIFICATION

Knowledge, Experience, and Qualifications
- University degree in health or nutrition with progressive experience in project management.
- Ability to handle in-kind donations (medical drugs, disposables and equipment)
- Ability to design and implement health project
- Ability to design and implement nutrition project (CMAM, SAM etc)
- Strong communication, interpersonal & technical skills.
- Proven ability to work independently and as a team member.
- Ability to take initiatives if required.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively as well as display professionalism and confidence.
- Good report writing skills.
- Excellent computer skills.
- Familiarity of monitoring & evaluation instruments & documents is preferable.
- Able to work effectively under, & adapt to, difficult conditions.
- Willingness & ability to travel inside & outside the country.
Language
- Fluent in both languages English & Arabic (written and spoken) and Turkish will be an advantage
IT skills
- Very good computer skills
- Proficiency in the internet and search tools
- Proficiency in MS Office and the ability to use software necessary for project management and reporting
