Somalia: Driver 1 Position National

Background

Islamic Relief Somalia (IRS) has been operating in Somalia since 2006 and has responded to conflict and drought affected people through provision of life saving assistance. Through our projects, IR has continuously been providing safe drinking water, improving hygienic sanitation facilities, increasing hygiene awareness, particularly to ones living in IDP camps; empowering the urban poor and distressed working children, engaging in conflict management and mitigation and strengthening of community cohesiveness and co-existence.

Position background

· To provide effective transport facilitation to Islamic Relief Somalia Hargeisa Office Program staffing order to attain the objectives of the organization In order to successfully do so, the Driver must be able to effectively communicate Islamic Relief Somalia purpose and demonstrate quality of commitment and integrity that that serves as an example to others

Major Responsibilities:

· Responsible of IRS fleet management both IR cars and hired vehicles as well;

· Organizing staff using the assigned vehicle

· ensure cleanliness of assigned vehicle at all times when in use or otherwise and that the

Vehicle is in good condition before use;

· To carry out periodic checks on the assigned vehicle to determine maintenance needs and report accordingly and time;

· To drive carefully at all times and ensure safety of the passengers, other road users, and the assigned vehicle;

· To keep up to date vehicle mileage log;

· To indicate the vehicle fire and service costs;

· To ensure all vehicle reports are done on a monthly basis and submitted on or before the scheduled date;

· To stand in for Field while some is away for replacement purpose;

· To assist in other duties in the office as assigned by the immediate supervisor when not undertaking transport facilitation.

Qualification and Experience

· High school certificate, university degree will be added value.

· Minimum three years’ of experience At least two years of INGO experience.

· Good working knowledge of English and Somali language is required,

· Computer skills on Excel and Word is value added.

· Have good knowledge on driving safety protocols.
