Background
Islamic Relief Somalia (IRS) has been operating in Somalia since 2006 and has responded to conflict and drought affected people through provision of life saving assistance. Through our projects, IR has continuously been providing safe drinking water, improving hygienic sanitation facilities, increasing hygiene awareness, particularly to ones living in IDP camps; empowering the urban poor and distressed working children, engaging in conflict management and mitigation and strengthening of community cohesiveness and co-existence.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the agronomist officer, undertake the timely implementation of all livelihoods related activities of IRS ‘s livelihoods programs. Assist the field officer in conducting field-based needs assessments, training of farmers and in the implementation, monitoring and reporting of the pastoral livelihood programs in Balcad district middle Shebelle.
To assist in selecting beneficiaries that IRS intends to work with the help of community elders and local authorities to ensure smooth running of IRS activities in terms of security, accessibility, collaboration and etc. Provide timely reports of activity progress, monitoring visits and assessments as may be required from time to time. Actively participate in community mobilization including organizing community meetings; beneficiary selection, trainings etc liaise directly with communities, elders and local authorities, as well as other agencies operational in middle Shebelle regularly to ensure coordination and effective implementation of activities. Draft Monthly, Quarterly and Annual project progress reports and submit to the field officer highlighting progress of activities, challenges and recommendations on way forward. Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.
Qualification and Experience
University degree in Agricultural Economics/Development studies, Planning , Rural Development, or any field related to pastoral development
At least two years of practical experience in planning, managing and executing complex development projects;
Good working knowledge of English and Somali language is required, other local languages are advantageous.
Computer skills on Excel and Word.
Skills on report writing
