Islamic Relief Worldwide are currently recruiting for the position of a Senior Communications Advisor who will lead on the implementation and ongoing development of the organisational Reputational Risk Management (RRM) Strategy and coordinating responses to negative PR and crisis communications. This position requires regular senior-level engagement with the CEO, Head of Governance and IRW directors, and periodic engagement with the CEOs and communications directors of leading IRW partner offices and field offices across the world.
The post holder will also work in close cooperation with other divisions of the organisation and with the management team of the External Relations and Advocacy Division to help the ERA Director achieve the Division’s agreed strategic aims and objectives in order to support our humanitarian and development work that reaches millions of people every year.
The successful candidate must have or be:
- Good knowledge and sound understanding of the needs, sensitivities and professional discipline of public communications and external relations.
- Strong interpersonal skills and strong communication skills in English. This includes listening skills, writing, basic editing/proof reading, and delivering complex information accurately and with clarity. A good wordsmith in English is essential for this role.
- Ability to clearly communicate complex and technical messaging around compliance, legal and regulatory issues.
- Strong organisational skills i.e. ability to prioritise and plan work, set and achieve deadlines, establish and maintain monitoring systems.
