Islamic Relief Worldwide (IRW) is currently recruiting for the position of Gender Based Violence based in Iraq, who will support the implementation of IR Iraq’s GBV project in the Kirkuk region as well providing support to Head of Programmes in developing training and project development. The staff member will provide technical case work support as well as engaging with different stakeholders and the running of cluster meetings.
The role will oversee supervision of project staff management including: resolution of issues, timely responses to questions submitted for feedback, attendance to ensure presence of sufficient staff at all times, conduct regular meetings and share minutes with Country Office management. This would include responsibility for making key decisions in relation to the project implementation, and offer solutions to problems that arise during the implementation of project. Furthermore, the post-holder will liaise regularly with the Head of Programmes and project team to provide updates on the program, discuss emerging challenges, and collaborate on the design of new programs or changes to existing programs. The role will also ensure that the program department prepares on-time and quality reports based on donor templates and requirements, alongside performing other related duties incidental to the work described herein. This requires a flexible approach to respond to any work requests from the line manager sometimes at short notice.
It is essential that the candidate has a post graduate degree (e.g. MSc, MA) in a relevant discipline – Gender studies, Development studies, Social Sciences etc. This is to be accompanied with a good understanding of the local context, traditions, and customs of Iraq. The post-holder is required to have experience and knowledge of gender/GBV programming on the ground as well as GBV case management and be able to set up referral mechanisms. The candidate must also have substantial experience working in the field of GBV, project management, programs design, and proposal development.
