Islamic Relief Worldwide are recruiting a Humanitarian Advocacy Advisor, who will co-ordinate and lead the development of Islamic Relief’s humanitarian advocacy work around the World. S/he will work closely with both the Humanitarian Department and the regional and country teams in ensuring the humanitarian needs of the communities we serve are represented and Islamic Relief Worldwide’s contribution to current humanitarian and development policy discourse and advocacy is delivered to the relevant audiences both at national and global level. The post holder will harness the extraordinary understanding and perspectives of local communities and staff in influencing government and institutional strategy and policy on aspects of aid policy and work with relevant networks and coalitions within the Humanitarian community to ensure we bring a coordinated and amplified voice to those suffering calamity and distress. S/he will also contribute to learning and change within IR and the wider NGO community.
The successful candidate will have experience and understanding of lobbying and policy influencing at both institutional and political levels and constructing effective advocacy strategies. The successful candidate will have experience of contributing to policy development in the humanitarian or development field. The post holder will have an understanding of policy-making dynamics, and the ability to draw policy conclusions out of research findings.
