Islamic Relief UK (IRUK) is actively recruiting for the position of ‘Head of Corporate Services’ to be based from its Waterloo Office, London. The organisation is currently operating to a hybrid working model.
The Corporate Services Department of IRUK is responsible for the provision of robust support services (namely HR, ICT, finance/accounts, facilities management, supporter relations, Data and Volunteer Engagement) to the SBU so it can deliver its strategy successfully. It is also responsible for continuously monitoring IRUK’s performance and developing systems, policies and procedures to ensure it maintains a high level of operational efficiency.
Purpose of the role:
- To lead in the development and implementation of the business support services strategy that offers a high level of service to all relevant stakeholders.
- To be responsible for the effective management of IRUK supporter relations activities
- To lead on and manage IRUK’s SLA’s with IRW
- To oversee the people and culture needs and provisions.
- To strengthen the employee experience by actively managing employee engagement and culture enhancement initiatives
- To lead on the coordination and implementation of relevant policies and processes.
- To monitor the strategic recruitment, retention, development and remuneration of human resources required to meet the organisation’s operational needs.
- To oversee IRUK needs related to facilities and services.
- To ensure the provision of quality, fit for purpose, accounts and finance function.
- To lead on the IRUK’s Data strategy and drive a data-driven culture.
- To ensure adequate ICT services and support is provided both at the operational level and for system development projects that are aligned with the agreed business strategy.
- Upon the request of and in close cooperation with other departments and stakeholders, to research, develop, introduce and monitor internal systems geared towards achieving gains in effectiveness, efficiency, reliability and quality of the work of IRUK
- To contribute significantly to overall IRUK division in order to ensure that it is capable of fully achieving its agreed strategy, targets and departmental objectives.
The successful candidate must have or be:
- A degree in a management or social science related field, preferably in HRM or Business Management
- CIPD qualified or equivalent (extensive HR experience may also suffice in place)
- Strong and seasoned analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think creatively and laterally, to overcome challenges.
- Ability to strategise, plan, prioritise and delegate to ensure successful delivery of work and projects.
- Ability to build, manage and motivate teams and individuals (including technical specialists) to achieve set objectives.
- Ability to guide staff development towards achieving key performance indicators.
- Excellent communication skills, written and oral, with the ability to deliver complex information persuasively and with clarity in a wide range of situations and through different media, e.g. prepare reports, deliver presentations, facilitate meetings, design and hold workshops.
- Excellent understanding of accounts and finance
- Excellent understanding of commercial and business issues.
- Excellent project management skills (e.g. Prince 2 Qualification).
- Good understanding of international development and humanitarian work.
- Good knowledge of ICT as well as understanding of communications systems and related issues.
- Proven experience of co-developing and implementing strategies and work plans which help to deliver the wider organisational strategy and objectives.
- Proven ability and experience in people, activity and project management, including delegating roles, authority, projects and work in a way that enables teams and individuals to achieve their targets/objectives.
- Sound financial and resource management which enables department goals to be achieved within budgetary constraints.
- Proven ability and experience in analysing data which enables sound conclusion and recommendations to be drawn.
- Proven experience in leading, coordinating and providing support to cross functional project teams.
